I worked as a Research Consultant at the Scheller Teacher Education Program (STEP) lab for the academic year 2022.
During my time with STEP, I had the opportunity to contribute to the field of accessible AI education and AI ethics. I worked closely with Dr. Irene Lee, Daniella DiPaola, and Dr. Katherine Moore. Together, we developed and implemented AI Literacy activities aimed at fostering understanding of basic AI/ML concepts in underrepresented groups in STEM and Computing. Their resulting paper can be found here.
I played a pivotal role in designing creative and editable Zines, datasets, and machine learning projects. These resources were used by both teachers and students to explore various topics such as Community Action, AI ethics, GANs, VAEs, and quantum computing. By providing engaging and hands-on learning opportunities, we aimed to empower students to think critically and ethically about the implications of AI in our society.
Furthermore, I had the privilege of serving as a Cohort Leader for an evening course on AI Ethics and Public Policy at Stanford in collaboration with Bloomberg Beta. During this period from January 2022 to present, I guided mid-senior and senior professionals through an in-depth exploration of the ethical considerations surrounding AI and its impact on public policy.
Through these experiences, I have gained valuable insights into the field of accessible AI education, AI ethics, and the importance of fostering inclusivity and intersectionality. I am proud to have been a part of initiatives that promote equal opportunities and prepare the next generation for the future of AI.
